About me

I started this blog for a class project through the Communication, Media, and Persuasion department at Idaho State University. Although the assignment ended in early-March 2015, I chose to continue the blog because I enjoyed sharing my love for Pocatello, Idaho and defending the town that I call home.

I was born in the Bannock County Hospital on a warm summer morning in 1980. I attended Tendoy Elementary, Alameda Middle School, Highland High School and Idaho State University and still see some of my old teachers when grocery shopping or eating out. Growing up in Pocatello, I have cultivated a love for nature, a love for family, and a love for my community.

I hope that this blog will reach a large audience, those who love this town along with those who don’t.  After all, conflict stimulates conversation, and conversation stimulates growth.

To those of you who share in my Poky positivity, thanks for the support and feel free to contribute your love though stories, comments, posts and pictures. For those of you who believe that Pocatello is the armpit of Idaho, I hope I can open your eyes to some of the benefits that come from living in such a small town. I also hope to clear up some of your misconceptions, specifically that “Poky is boring and that there is nothing to do” (see blog post #1: There’s no hokey in Poky). And for those of you who have never heard of Pocatello, Idaho, I hope to peak your interest and show you what you’re missing. Cuz seriously…this town is awesome.

Lovepoky.com is dedicated to showcasing Pocatello, Idaho through an optimistic frame. Although I acknowledge that every town has its good and bad qualities, my fixation on the positive is not naïve as much as it is hopeful. I hope that Pocatello continues to grow and offer its residents a variety of educational, cultural, and economic opportunities. I hope that I can continue to share those opportunities with all my readers. And I hope that this blog will help you appreciate all that Pocatello has to offer.
